Inhaling Death

Aaargh! Awhile ago, I was sitting in the Wal-Mart (I spent quite a while looking up if I'm allowed to post a company's name, and yes, I am) parking lot, waiting in the car for my mum to return. It was quite tedious, and I was growing increasingly bored as the seconds ticked by at the speed of a slug swimming in molasses. I had rummaged through Mum's glove compartment several times already, doodling on old receipts and reading how to do CPR in her portable Emergency First Aid booklet. Finally, I decided to just gaze out the window blankly at my surroundings, and my eyes fell upon an outrageous scene. A family was striding across the parking lot - a man, his daughter, and a woman. The woman was smoking, of all the grotesque things, as she was holding her small daughter's hand and leading her across the parking lot. The fumes were wafting all around the family's faces. I felt sick to my stomach. How could she do this to her young daughter? I was just about to get out of the car and have a chat with her as she was putting the cart back, when Mum arrived. I never got the chance. So here's what I have to say.
Certain though I am that people aplenty will disagree with me on this case, I will still write it. The only reason people should disagree with me about this is that they cannot, or just do not want to, quit smoking. Smoking is sickening. More and more places are banning it and other poisonous substances, but I must bring out my opinion. I think smoking should be illegal.
Please, don't stop reading now just because you don't like my point of view. Keep listening, for you might just find some things you never would've considered before.
First of all, I think all of the points listed below should be taken into consideration for laws and rules.
Smoking is extremely harmful to the smoker's body. Suicide is illegal, is it not? So why isn't smoking? If you really want to shorten your life, just pop out three packs a day, and eventually you'll die of lung poisoning. And plus, it won't be illegal! How handy!
Many other harming drugs are illegal, and smoking isn't. Though it is being banned from many public areas now, I am afraid that it will not become fully illegal anytime soon.
Cigarette smoking isn't just hurting the smoker's body. Apparently, second-hand smoke harms the surrounding people even more than it does the smoker. HealthLinkBC says: "Breathing second-hand smoke can be more dangerous than inhaling smoke through a cigarette. It has twice as much nicotine and tar as the smoke that people smoking inhale and five times more carbon monoxide, a deadly gas that starves your body of oxygen."
That is truly unfair, especially if you are being forced to sit beside the smoker. Look above, at what I wrote about suicide by smoking. Think about it now, for unwanting people breathing it in second-hand. That is practically murder, however unknowing the smoker may be. Some of you might be thinking right now, Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration. But it's really not. If your parents have custody over you, and you are forced to live in a house where they smoke constantly...well, think about it.
We desperately need our laws updated. This poisoning is disgusting, and it must come to an end.
