I saw this sticker message slapped on a van's window yesterday evening. So true! I immediately thought. Lots of people do act like we're the only ones, like we're almighty and that every other species on the planet are just things that we can live off of. And why is it that they won't give other living creatures importance? Because we're more intelligent and we have thumbs. Really? That is such a weak comeback. Yet that's what lots of people think, whether they realize it or not.
I'm not saying we all have to be vegetarians - I, for one, am not. But we need to stop treating them like they're garbage, and that they only exist for our own existence.
That leads onto another thing that irritates me. When people say, 'Stop treating her/him like he/she's an animal.' What is that all about? Would you really treat an animal that way? Be creative. Come up with something else to say besides that abusive saying. The person shouldn't be treated that way, and neither should the animal.
I truly believe in the phrase 'Equality of all living creatures". But even if some of you don't, at least have some more respect towards other species. We all breathe and feel and live, one way or another.
