Flyaway

Okay, let me start off with APOLOGIES. It's been so long since I've written anything! I've been away a lot...but that is a terrible excuse for my absence throughout the month of June.
Sigh.
I've been having a wonderful summer frolicking in the sand and swimming CONSTANTLY. The best place on Earth, for me? Summers at my cabin! Some people don't get how I can love it soooo much, but...it's just a very special place for me. It's not just about the beach and all that nice stuff. It feels like Christmas.

Anyway...you're probably wondering what that title up there means: Flyaway. It's a book I've started writing on Wattpad. Wattpad is awesome. It is definitely the best app out there if you're a bookworm. Unlimited free books! So if you have an account (even if you don't, you can still read it), check out my story! http://www.wattpad.com/story/1919823-flyaway

Thaaaaank you!

Feet-ventures!

Check out my new page, Feet! I was suddenly struck with inspiration for a photography project a few days ago, so...here it is!

Changes

Changes changes changes! To the blog, that is. In case you didn't notice, it has a whole new look! The reason I completely changed its electric appearance - from black and neon bright colours to sandy yellow and blue is because, well, I'm tired of looking at something that isn't mine. Although I love those bright colours, they didn't go with the header image in the slightest. I feel it's much more appealing this way, much fresher and meer. Me-er is a word, isn't it? Meer? Ah, whatever. It should be. And so should meish, now that I think about it. If I ever publish a dictionary (which wouldn't happen in a million years - UBER BORING), meer and meish would be in there, I can promise you that.

I've been writing lately! Not a long story. I've decided to keep it short with poems and descriptions, give myself a break from all the frustration I've been putting myself through.
Maybe, sometime later, I'll post one of my poems. Maybe.

Something

They used to see the sky
like the blue it was told
They used to fall for lies
like they told them the truth, fibs aside
They used to wander free
Without a single worry
Colours were pure and bright
No one to paint a gray
or black
or white
Then everything started shifting balance
Mountains taller than eyes could fathom
Lies so obvious, plain, malicious
Winds too forceful and strong and vicious
Then they realized that
their day is done
yet it hasn't  even begun

Don't try to understand what this poem means - I can't quite understand it myself. And I'm the person who wrote it.

tRoUbLeS

I am having an absolutely wretched time trying to decide WHAT TO WRITE A BOOK ABOUT. It is a question that has been haunting me every day for the past four months. I have officially ditched the whole SciFi concept I had going for the book I was writing before - the idea was much too complex for both the characters in the book to grasp and the inexperienced writer herself!
None of my ideas are working out. I start writing about them...then helplessly abandon them when I realize they won't work out in the end. I'm like a little kid with toys - I get a stuffy for Christmas, then lose interest in it two weeks after and immediately want something else.

My trouble is, I can find great beginnings easily. I just can't follow through with them. My desktop is completely cluttered with beginnings of books. Attention span? You judge for yourself.
Inspiration, strike here X, please.

P.S. Please don't leave comments on ideas for books...I would feel tempted to use them, and that is not a good thing! I need to come up with my own beginnings, middles, and yes, ENDINGS to my books.

P.P.S. Not that there is anyone to comment - no one reads these pointless babblings. :P

Huckleberry Plunks

I have a new blog! Well, not exactly new, I guess, but new to Blogger. It's mostly about my family's animals, at our property/house called Huckleberry Plunks. You know how in some places in England, they name their properties? Well, that's what Huckleberry Plunks is. Sort of.   Our family is composed of goats, ducks, a dog, and us people, of course. Check out the blog:  http://huckleberry-plunks.blogspot.ca
Hope you enjoy!

Gossip

Lately, I've been in a deep state of wondering. And anger. And confusion. Because I really don't understand mean gossip. What is the fascination for so many people in making other peoples' lives miserable? So many of these victims are wonderful people, with wonderful futures, and hopes and dreams. Why must people come along and ruin them like this? Why must they be the cause for them to take away their lives, or become drug addicts, or start hurting other people. It really upsets me. I'm beginning to wonder if, as the generations go by, we're getting more and more vicious towards each other, or if this is just a result of social media. Maybe people were always like this. But now that there's the Internet, and websites like The Dirty, everyone is fearlessly unleashing their dark sides upon everyone around them, without regret or guilt or any basic human empathy. I've been contemplating starting another blog/site called The Clean, where people can post ANYTHING good, anything that makes themselves AND everyone else feel good. Thing is, I don't know if anyone will even bother to read it...or if they'll even find out about it. And it's not like anybody gives this blog a second glance. I don't know where to start.
Hopefully I'll find a start. Until then, I'll keep The Clean in mind.

See the World...

...through your own eyes. Your destiny doesn't shape you, you shape your destiny.

 what do you see?

Mathematics in Middle School and High School

What is with math in the last few years? I sit down in math class, and the teacher goes up to the front of the room to begin teaching us a new concept. After a few tries of writing the questions out on paper, I begin to understand. Yes! I've got it! Then - BAM! - all the sudden, the tiles are brought out. Not just the tiles, but the blocks. And the strips of coloured paper. What's this? The teacher explains that we're going to have to use tiles along with printing it out, and then we're going to have to draw out the tiles and blocks afterwards!
I go up to the front of the room and ask if I can simply write out the questions on a piece of paper. The teacher sighs and gives me a sympathetic look. They tell me that, yes, I have to use the tiles, even though they know that the whole process would be much more efficient without them.
So I went back to my seat and did the whole long, gruelling process over again. And then I wrote it out. And then I drew it. And by the time I  was finished one question, I knew that if I hadn't have used those tiles and blocks...well, I could have easily been done five more.

But that's not the point. My experience isn't everyone else's experience. So, after several classes of doing this, I asked around the classroom, and every single person that I talked to said that they hated the tiles, too! Lately, I've been thinking, hoping, just wishing that maybe, possibly we won't have to use those tiles and blocks anymore. But it turns out that we'll be using them all through high school. Government. Union. It's mandatory. I can't believe this discrimination of visual learners! It's absolutely ridiculous! I think that in a classroom, people should just write the questions out, and if they're having trouble with the new concept or they are a hands-on learner, they can use the tiles. But otherwise, it's just an absurd waste of valuable class time.

I know this whole rant has probably been tedious and annoying, but you have to understand that the way the government is making us do mathematics nowadays is actually making it a heck of a lot harder for many, many students to learn.

A Pebble's Perspective

The rain
It's falling
The clouds
They're moving
The trees
They're growing
The rivers
They're running
But I...
I do not know how to fall
How to move
How to do anything!
The bird
It's pecking
The sand
It's shifting
The mountains
They're sliding
The sky
It's darkening
But I...
I do not know how to slide
How to shift
I do not know how to do anything!
For I am just a lonely pebble.

Animal Cruelty Claymation

I am not too sure that this video will actually work, but I hope it does! Three of my friends and I created this video in English class - it is our first stop animation. It took us a very long time to mould all the clay into characters, make the background, and then capture picture after picture to end up with this finished product. And this actually isn't the finished product - it had a song in the background before, but I had to remove it due to copyright. Sadly.
Anyway, our intention was to raise awareness to people about animal cruelty. This particular story has a happy ending - the dog is rescued. But many other, real animals in this situation won't be saved.
Hope you enjoy!
(and yes, the dog is orange...)

If this video does not work, this is the link to it on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l81q5C1BA7g
